The Shoremen took another positive step in their preparation for the 2008 season, downing Twinsburg 20-0 in a two quarter game condition scrimmage. Starting on offense at their own 30, Avon Lake powered down the field for a touchdown on the opening series. Pete Hart completed two passes for 30 yards and the rest came on the ground. Cody Bennington had a nice 15 yard run on a fullback counter, and also wrapped up the drive with a one-yard scoring plunge. Twinsburg came back with a nice drive of their own, moving to a first and goal at the eight. But James Lekan picked off a tipped pass and raced 92 yards for the second TD of the evening. Twinsburg went three and out on their next possession, punting to the A.L. 42. Mike Mansnerus took a pitch around left end for 38 yards, and the Shoremen used a series of inside running plays to punch it in. Bennington finished with his second one-yard run.
