The Shoremen offense really kicked into high gear Friday night as Avon Lake beat a game but out-manned Rocky River squad 47-7. The Shoremen scored on their first 4 possessions of the night, opening with a 42 yard run on the toss sweep to Doyle, followed by a beautiful Tift-to-Stross TD pass that covered 60 yards. The Pirates made it 14-7 on a long TD pass of their own. But Doyle scored another TD on a well-executed option pitch from Tift, Stross caught a 50 yard bomb from Tift and the rout was on. The Shoremen as added a safety and a 35 yard field goal by Johnny Lyons to make the score 33-7 at the half. After a scoreless, penalty-plagued third quarter, Doyle added one more TD run early in the fourth. Ben Willson closed out the scoring on a 33 yard run.

The Shoremen offense featured another fine night by Doyle who had 161 yards on 23 carries with 3 TD's. His running was complimented by outstanding rushing performances from Sean Murello, Ben Willson, and even Mike Urbin, who had a couple of key runs for first downs as the up back in the "stacked I". Mike Tift had another good night, throwing for 200 yards with 2 TD's and no INT's. Special teams were outstanding as Lyons ran his 2004 PAT record to 26 straight, and 1-1 on field goals. The punt return team was solid, and the coverage teams were outstanding. The Shoremen have now won a school-record 19 games, the longest current win streak in Ohio.
