Ashland running back Jon Schroeder saw his college career come to a disappointing end as the Eagles bowed out of the NCAA Division 2 playoffs with a 40-24 loss to Central Washington.  Jon’s two-yard scoring run in the first quarter was his 17th TD this year.  Schroeder finished with a total of 32 touchdowns in his four years at  Ashland.

In Saturday’s other games:

·       Indiana closed out the regular season at 7-5 with a 27-24 victory over arch-rival Purdue.  Andrew Means caught two passes for 57 yards for the Hoosiers.

·       Trey Stross scored his fourth touchdown of the year on an 11 yard reception, but Iowa fell to Western Michigan by 1 28-19 count.

·       Mount Union senior captain Matt Kostlenik recorded eight tackles and a sack as the Purple Raiders beat Ithaca 42-18 in the first  round of the Division 3 playoffs.

·       Ian Pace’s Fordham Rams finished the regular season on a down note, losing to Bucknell 38-24.  Nonetheless, the Rams won the outright Patriot League championship with a 5-1 mark.  Fordham is 8-3 overall and will travel to the University Massachusetts next Saturday for a first round Division 1 playoff contest.
