Spring Football 2006
The Avon Lake
football program was well represented as the NCAA division 1-A schools held
their annual spring football programs.
At Iowa,
Trey Stross spent the spring competing with a returning senior at wide
receiver. Trey got his fair share of snaps in practice and capped off this
year’s camp with a fine performance in the Hawkeye’s intrasquad
game. # 86 (it seems odd not seeing that
old familiar #17) caught 5 passes for 109 yards – “About 22 yards per catch,
just like high school”. Andrew Means
split his spring between Indiana’s
football and baseball teams. Andrew had
just one catch in The Hoosiers’ spring game, but it was a big one: 76 yards for
a touchdown. At Air force, Bobby Doyle
got into the spring game and carried once for six yards. Mike D’Andrea,
unfortunately, had to sit out the OSU Buckeyes Scarlet-Gray game with an
injury. And last but not least, Jesse
Cole saw action in the West Virginia
spring game. Jesse had originally
intended to play at Michigan
State, but ended up
signing with the Mountaineers at the last minute.
